I am a sober mother, sister, wife, friend, feminist, activist, retired fire captain, Oiselle Volée, member of the local Vinerunners club. I've crossed the finish line of a couple of full Ironmans, a few 70.3s, numerous 5k, 10k, half and full marathons. Running for the fun of it now. I retired from Cal Fire in 2011, wanted to get more involved in my local community and started volunteering with the local Girls on the Run council and NEWS (provides safety, hope, healing and empowerment for survivors of domestic and sexual abuse). The girls at GOTR fill my heart with joy and much needed hope these days. The afternoons I spend with them are beautiful moments of light. My advocacy work with NEWS isn't joyful but it is fulfilling to be a hand to hold on to during a dark time.
