I’m a passionate runner and cyclist. After spending my teen and young adult years overweight and inactive, cycling helped me turn my life around in 2005. I lost 120 lbs and since then have raced my bike competitively on the first all women’s team in Oklahoma for three years, survived being hit by a truck on a training ride, and returned to cycling. I took up running more seriously after my accident. I relocated to the Dallas area in 2015 to work for Baylor University. I have run 13 half marathons and am currently an Ambassador for the Texas Distance Challenge in which I’m working to run the distance across Texas (814 miles) in ten months. I’m currently on pace to finish in seven months. I’m also leading a Texas Distance Challenge cycling team to ride the equivalent of the perimeter of Texas (3.612 miles). I had hip surgery in 2019 and am amazingly running more and stronger than I ever have. I started a #covid19RunStreak in mid-March which I haven’t broken. I plan to keep running every day until a vaccine is available to all Americans.
