I am a stay at home mom with a former career in fashion/marketing/writing. I began running in August of 2016 at the age of 35, after moving to MS from Atlanta. I had wanted to be a runner for a long time, but every time I tried I felt like my lungs were not strong enough. Then one day something mentally clicked and I told my husband that I wanted to be a runner. I needed a plan and a goal. So I signed up for a half marathon that was scheduled 18 weeks out (yep, couldn't even run 1/2 mile) and found a run/walk plan, thinking that's how I would have to complete it. Nope. Around week 6 of training I realized it was a mind game. I was scheduled to run/walk a 5K for training that day and said, "no, I'm running it". I did and never looked back. From then on, I just ran. I was immediately hooked. Since then I've ran several half and full marathons and am now training for my first ultra (40 miles for my 40th birthday). I just want to keep seeing how far I can go. Nothing seems like too much anymore. It's all about the journey and training my body to do what seems impossible (or crazy).
I discovered Picky Bars on a trip to Tennessee a couple of years ago and immediately became a Picky Bar Club member. I have gluten and GI issues and NOTHING on the market has worked better for me during training.
